Biker gang members are reaching out to the NSW Raptor Squad with the intent of severing ties with their gangs.
They are requesting the squad’s assistance in conducting home raids to recover their club colours, aiming to minimise the potential consequences they may face from their former club. That’s according to NSW Police Detective Superintendent Andrew Koutsoufis, who says the ‘constant’ attention from police has become a major factor for bikies choosing to walk away.

‘When their wives are at them, their family are at them saying “I’ve had enough of this crap” because we are turning over the car, visiting your home. Sometimes every couple of days,’ Det Supt Koutsoufis told The Daily Telegraph.
‘We have bikies ring us up to say “come and do a search warrant or a Fire Arm Prohibition order on our house”, telling us they will have their vest out so they can go to the club and say the cops took it.’
Police claim the number of murders and public place shootings has significantly dropped in recent years due to the efforts of the Raptor Squad.

That’s despite 18 gang-related murders in the last two and half years.
The most recent was drug baron Alen Moradian, who was shot multiple times from close range in broad daylight in a Bondi Junction carpark in Sydney’s east last month.
The NSW Raptor has founded in 2009 and became a standalone squad in 2021, dedicated to targeting and dismantling organised criminal networks.
Raptor ramped up its statewide presence earlier this year when the task force expanded with 50 additional officers based in northern and southern NSW.
‘If you could see every single thing that comes through the doors of what’s happening out there, you would think we were at war and yet the work of Raptor, the suppressions over the past 17 years, is spectacular. The statistics support it,’ said Detective Superintendent Grant Taylor, boss of the Criminal Group Squad.
