A year-long investigation into drug trafficking on Vancouver Island has resulted in six arrests and seizures of guns, drugs and cash. Also seized was a large Hells Angels British Columbia crest.

The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C. said it launched the probe into the drug network last January.

Six people were arrested Jan. 13 as four search warrants were served in the Comox Valley and in Campbell River.

CFSEU called it “a complex investigation into an alleged organized drug-trafficking network with ties to members of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club.”

Seized at four Vancouver Island homes was 3.5 kg of cocaine, $160,000 in cash, several guns, a car and “Hells Angels” paraphernalia.

“The illegal firearms and illicit drugs have been removed from these communities and will no longer pose a threat to public safety. The drugs will be sent to the lab to be analyzed, and the firearms will be sent to the provincial forensic firearms lab,” CFSEU said in a news release.

Six people were arrested, including a Campbell River man, 43; a 57-year-old Comox man; a Cumberland man, 39; a woman from Comox, 46; a man from Sooke, 32, and a 29-year-old Victoria woman. All six were arrested and released, pending the approval of charges.

“We know small communities and areas outside the Lower Mainland are not immune to the negative effects of gangs and organized crime,” CFSEU Supt. Duncan Pound said. “These groups prey upon the most vulnerable through the sale of often deadly drugs and using fear and intimidation in order to advance their illicit enterprises.
